Sumbangan terjemahan dari akh Abu Bilal Al Brithaniy tentang merahasiakan Lailatul Qadar.

▪︎Informing People About Laylat al-Qadr▪︎

Shaykh Abū Fayrūz ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Bin Sokāyā al-Indoneysī al-Jāwī حفظه الله said on the 22nd of Ramaḍān 1445H:

"بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

This Question is from our brother ʿIzz al-Dīn al-Yemenī حفظه الله تعالى. He says:

"السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،
How are you?

Al-Nawawī رحمه الله تعالى said about Laylat al-Qadr:

"And it is Mustaḥab for the one who witnesses it to conceal it."

As it is in al-Majmūʿ Sharḥ al-Muhadhdhab (6/453)."

And the Answer, by seeking the aid of Allāh, (is):

"وعلیکم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته،

This speech has been mentioned by a number of those who explained the book of al-Nawawī, saying:

"And it is Mustaḥab for the one who witnesses it to conceal it," as in al-Najm al-Wahhāj fī Sharḥ al-Minhāj of Kamāl al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Damīrī (3/370), and also in Asnā al-Maṭālib Sharḥ Rawḍ al-Ṭālib by Zakarīyyah al-Anṣārī (1/121).

Moreover, this speech is a beautiful advice out of fear of falling into harm of laziness in competing in doing good and in achieving nearness, after the passing of Laylat al-Qadr, due to some of the people knowing the specificty of the Laylat al-Qadr.

And this advice from al-Imām al-Nawawī or from those after him, falls under the general principle, which is:

《Preventing harm takes precedence over achieving benefits》

 

And we were prohibited from spreading some information among some people, whose intellect and understanding cannot accommodate (the information).

As for delaying the news to the end of Ramaḍān, then that is good, out of safety of the harm that is mentioned, by acting upon the statement of Allāh تعالى:

{وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ}

{And proclaim the Grace of your Rabb.}

[Al-Ḍuḥā: 11]

And Allāh knows better of what's correct, والحمد لله رب العالمين."
